I don't know how it is everywhere else, but in the south it's a little joke that the daughter must bring her boyfriend home to meet her father before anything gets too serious. The guy has to come in ready to charm the pants off his lady's father when he is met with a man cleaning his gun in the kitchen. But let's be real for a minute... Who is more intimidating, your father or one of your best friends? If yo said your father, then good for you. If you said your best friend, then you know Madison.
For someone who is smaller than your average guy she can definitely do some scarring. The first time Madison met my current boyfriend it had been a long day. We had just finished one our four mile walks and had so much work to do. Being the responsible college students that we are we headed to the university library not far from our campus. Walking in as the fashionistas that we are we obviously turned heads. By this I mean we had on our best homeless couture. Sweat pants, high school t shirts, socks & sandals, and glasses. We were looking so damn hot when we ran into my boyfriend. It was there in that busy library that THE talk came upon ones bae.
The normal hellos and how are yous were done by Cailyn and Lauren, but it was Madison that made this night memorable. It's hard to remember her exact words but I believe they were along the lines of "Hey Ryan, I'm Madison. I just want you to know that I love Ali and I don't like it when my friends cry. My ex was three tires down after we broke up so remember that." It wasn't the words or the threats. It was how it all happened. A smile on her face and hands on her hips. Oh! And the soft voice she said it in. I have never seen anybody's face fade from happiness to fear in that short amount of time. Too hide his fear he replaced it with an awkward laugh. But props to Ry who kept his composure and didn't tell me until later how scared he truly was.
Of course it's a funny story to look back on and laugh at, but it's also something wonderful to think about. You know you have found a great group of friends when they will threaten your boyfriends life because they care about you that much. Now my advice to anyone, if anyone, reading this is to find a friend or multiple like this. Because in the long run they will be the ones at your door with a tub of ice cream and a screw driver ready to go after anyone that has hurt you.

The Divine Secrets of the YaYa Sisterhood
This blog will share the many stories and adventures of four sophomores at Meredith College: Lauren, Ali, Cailyn, and Madison. We were brought together during a "snow storm" which took over the college's small campus in Raleigh, North Carolina. Beyond thankful for those days which brought us together, we could never imagine our lives without each other. We accept one another for who we are; through the good, bad, and the ugly. Some people cannot understand the bond that we share, and there are some that think it is strange but to us it makes perfect sense. YaYa's: a group of three or more women whose hearts and souls are joined together by laughter and tears, shared through the glorious journey of life.
